One of the best parts of being in the group chat is making it out and meeting up. Our centralized events calendar makes that easy to do by including all events across your groups. All you have to do is RSVP and show up.
CHAT
Get a conversation going by hopping into any of your groups full-featured chats – complete with @s, threaded replies, reactions, GIFs, attachments, polls, pins, and more.
DMs
Because sometimes you just want to start a private side convo.
FORUMS, VIDEO & AUDIO
Some conversations require a different medium. Use forums for big announcements, video for face-to-face hangs, and hang out over group audio with as many people as you’d like.

Updating Group Privacy Settings on Geneva
We’re updating what it means to have a public and private group on Geneva. This update will make it easer for you to find the groups you’re looking for and for people to find the groups you’ve started. All groups will be searchable through discovery, but you’ll still need to approve all users who request to join your private group.
Make it a Meet Up
You’ll now see meetup suggestions right in the chat when someone proposes a time to hang out - making it easier to do fun things with the people in your groups. Anyone can make a meetup in Geneva and it will show up as an event in the calendar. You can use meetups to plan causal hangs, gauge interest from other people in your group, and throw together a plan without any pressure.

Updated App Navigation
We’ve added a tab bar to the bottom of the app to make it easier for you to navigate between your groups, discovery, calendar, and DMs. All of Geneva’s prior functionality has been preserved, it’s just a bit easier to get around.
Location Badges
You’ll now be able to see where people are chatting from, and let others know where you’re chatting from. You can update your location and privacy in your profile settings or by tapping on the update your location text below your name in chat and post rooms.

We've been listening to all your feedback and have some good stuff for you in this update :)
You can now...
- Change which room in your home is the 'default' room where new members land
- Give people permission to 'create rooms' without also giving them permission to 'edit or delete' existing rooms too
- Save videos to your camera roll and download files to your phone
We also improved how you'll see new messages — now when you open the app, it'll drop you where you last left off in a conversation instead of down at the bottom of a room. We also spent a bunch of time improving the 'activity' feed so that it won't bold for replies you've sent and if you read a reply directly in a room, the activity feed will now recognize that and won't stay bold.
And last but not least, we fixed a bug where opening the app from a push notification would sometimes take you to the wrong home or room.

You can now discover public Homes that your friends are in. If you choose to sync your contacts with Geneva, you can tap the new Discover icon in your side menu to find new Homes you might want to join. As the owner of a Home, you can decide if you want it to be public (anyone can discover it and join), private (people can discover it but need to request to join), or secret (totally off the grid). To protect everyone’s privacy, all Homes created previously will default to “not discoverable” and on a personal level, if you don’t want anyone to see the Homes you’re part of, you can turn the ‘Allow contacts to discover me’ toggle off in your account settings.

In this version, we've made a bunch of improvements to how Homes and rooms appear in the side menu, and moved the DMs button to make it easier to find. We've optimized scrolling in chat rooms so now when new messages come in, the whole thing isn't jumpy. On Polls, you can now see how many people voted overall. And last but not least, you can now edit Events!
We've also fixed a few bugs, including users appearing muted when they weren't and app badges not incrementing properly, and improved how Geneva works on smaller devices.

Introducing Post rooms - a new way to have more organized conversations within your Home. In Post rooms, people can post and comment, upvote the best stuff, and sort by most popular and most comments. They're great for things like announcements, episode discussions, FAQs, and more. This update has a bunch of bug fixes around emoji reactions, DMs, chat rooms, and notifications.
We also fixed an issue where sometimes after you tapped on a notification, you were taken into the room but weren't able to see the new message.
Thanks to all of you who've been sharing ideas, letting us know about bugs, and generally helping us make the app better :)

Many of you have asked for the ability to create rooms that only some people in your home can access, so we're excited to introduce 'secret rooms'.
If a room is secret, only members who are specifically invited will be able to see it in their side menu.
We've also redesigned Home Notification settings to make it easier to manage your notifications.
And as always, this update includes a bunch of bug fixes + performance improvements.

We’ve got another big release for you this week...
Introducing ROLES & PERMISSIONS.
Now you can create different ‘roles’ for different sets of members in your Home and control what permissions each group has.
For example, you could make a role called ‘Team’ and allow these people to approve members, add rooms, delete messages, and more…
You can also control permissions at the room level, including who can send messages in certain chat rooms (imagine an ‘Announcements’ room that you and your team can write in but is read-only for everyone else)
And of course, we’ve got some good bug fixes for you. This week we solved an issue with verification codes, fixed some wonkiness around muting yourself in audio rooms, and polished up a few small visual glitches.

DMs — because sometimes you just want to start a private side convo
Pinning — pin important messages to a room so people can find them later
Replies section — there’s now a dedicated area in each home where you can easily find all the reply threads you’re part of
@room mentions — get everyone’s attention for big moments and special announcements
We also fixed a couple of bugs related to mentions, polls, and reactions.
